1. Five O’clock Somewhere Jimmy Buffett and Alan Jackson:
Why we love it: What would Jimmy Buffett do? Anything he damn well pleases and you should too! The motto of the song is to relax and not to take life too seriously. The song is about a guy who blows off work to drink and have fun. Now I am not encouraging you all to quit your jobs. However, one cannot deny we have all been tempted to walk out of the office, sail away to the nearest Tiki Bar and have a Hurricane or two! Buffett and Jackson made day drinking something every American shouldn’t be ashamed of. I will drink to that!
Pour me somethin' tall an' strong,
Make it a "Hurricane" before I go insane.
It's only half-past twelve but I don't care.
It's five o'clock somewhere.
2. Raise Your Glass Pink:
Why we love it: This song pays homage to all the misfits, weirdos, black-sheep’s and anyone who has been labeled as different. This song is a high energy and positive message to celebrate your true to your authentic self. Raising your glass in praise to all the underdogs and knowing you aren’t alone in this world. Raise your glass to toast to individuality and the beauty in all of us. Cheers to that!
So raise your glass if you are wrong
In all the right ways, all my underdogs
We will never be, never be anything but loud
And nitty, gritty, dirty, little freaks
Won't you come on and come on and
Raise your glass!!
3. Escape (Pina Colada) Rupert Holmes
Why we love it: Yes, maybe the song is about a couple attempting to cheat on each other. Maybe it doesn’t have the best morality lesson. But who cares? The song is catchy as hell. A go-to karaoke classic, you can’t help but belt out lyrics to the chorus. Although, the popular theory is the song is about cheating I have a different idea. I think this couple was getting bored with the same old things so they both decide to spice things up a bit and put on this elaborately detailed role-play to spice things in the bedroom. Pina Colada for thought? The world will never truly know. Regardless, the song is fun to sing and dance to while sipping a cocktail.
Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain
I'm not much into health food, I am into champagne.
4. Drunk on a Plane Dierks Bentley
Why we love it: This song is so ridiculous, yet it so deliciously catchy. The song follows a man who was dumped on his wedding day and instead of missing out on his honeymoon he decides to go to Cancun anyways. Behind the humorous lines, there is a powerful message to be learned: When life gives you lemons, make martinis. Better yet, drink them on a plane. It’s the only way to travel!
Stewardess is somethin' sexy
Leanin' pourin' Coke and whiskey
Told her about my condition
Got a little mile-high flight attention
5. Drink you Away Justin Timberlake
Why we love it: Timberlake dipped his toes into to the country music scene with this bluesy, sensual song about a man looking to find answers to his all his love woes at the bottom of a bottle and having no luck with finding clarity. What makes this song so much fun to drink to is because it’s a highly relatable topic? Most people have tried to find answers at the bottom of a bottle or drink away the memories of an ex.
I can't drink you away
I've tried Jack, I've tried Jim, I’ve tried all of their friends
But I can't drink you away
All of these rocks, I can't swim outta this skin, I'm livin' in.
