Depending on the season and the reason, many cocktails will come and go. Some gain notoriety for a short time. Others are a one-hit wonder. All over the globe, cocktail wizards experiment with ingredients and create new and exciting concoctions to please the palate. No matter the trend, drinkers tend to go back to these five timeless classics. Whether you are 21 or 65 these cocktails are sexy, chic and will never cramp your style. ​

Cosmo: Although, the origin of the Cosmo is still debatable, it is claimed to have been given birth in Provincetown, MA in the 1970’s. However, it’s popularity sky-rocked in the 90’s thanks to the glamorous, nympho-maniac Samantha Jones of Sex and the City. The show catapulted the pretty and pink drink served in a martini glass onto the map! Although, drinkers hate to love and love to hate Cosmos, they are synonymous with fun, after-work gossip binges with your girlfriends, sexuality and femininity. The Cosmo remains a popular guilty pleasure drink of choice in North America. 

​Cool Fact: In the late 60’s business men for Ocean Spray were looking for ways to market their drink to adults. They printed a recipe for an alcoholic beverage (of the same ingredients) called the Harpoon, on every carton of juice. This peaked the curiosity of bartenders. They experiment with creating drinks using cranberry juice. The rest is history!

Margarita: There is a reason the Margarita is amongst the most popular adult beverage in America. Ritas are a perfect, ideal and versatile drink for first-time drinkers to the most experienced imbiber. Cool Fact: The frozen Margarita was born in 1971 when Mariano Martinez who was inspired by the Seven Eleven Slurpee, decided to use a soft-serve machine and created the first ever frozen Rita. ​

Sazerac: It is considered America’s first cocktail dating back to the mid 1800’s. The Sazerac has a unique method of preparation, which involves two chilled old-fashioned glasses. The first glass is swirled with a wash of absinthe for its strong flavor and scent. The second glass is used to combine the remaining ingredients, which are stirred with ice, then strained into the first glass. Don’t be fooled by the look of this drink. It is a potent concoction in a tiny presentation! 

​Cool Fact: The Sazerac became the official drink of New Orleans in June 2008 when it passed the senate bill 6.

Mimosa: Mimosas are like a lifestyle, a ritual for any Sunday-Funday. It’s difficult to imagine attending brunch without unlimited Mimosas. It combines the sweetness of orange juice which is a must during breakfast with bubbly champagne or to get a fun buzz going.

​Cool Fact: It is rumored that director Alfred Hitchcock originated the drink in San Francisco in the 1940’s.

Martini: Martinis are the epitome of style and class. Shaken or stirred, with an olive, lemon, or other garnishes, there is something sexy and simple about this drink. No matter if you are 21 or 65 this drink has a timeless, fashionable appeal to it. You can have a classic, make it dirty, or order a flavored version.
